For four days, I woke up in the softest, cloud-like bed of an industrially-designed, modern treehouse, overlooking the above painting of orange, red, and green forest.
If you’re looking for a getaway where you can fully disconnect, lose yourself in a good book, stay active, and be immersed in stunning nature—without committing to a full-on wellness retreat of liquid diets—Blackberry Mountain is your place.
Here is what you need to know:
It’s located in the Great Smoky Mountains in Walland, Tennessee.
There’s a wide variety of activities to choose from and that’s really why you visit this place. Note, almost all of them (aside from morning programming like yoga) come at an additional cost to your stay.
When I visited, I didn’t see my boyfriend all day. It felt like adult camp. I spent one full day at the spa and the others engulfed in jam-packed agendas — 9 AM pilates, 10 AM wheel-throw pottery, 2 pm horse back riding. His looked something like 9 AM mountain biking, 10 AM steam, 2 pm clay pigeon shooting.
Blackberry Mountain has 36+ miles of private hiking trails.
Blackberry Farm, the original property, is 15 minutes away. I prefer Mountain to Farm for its focus on activities. Blackberry Farm leans more towards food and wine experiences— think cheese-making class vs. pottery class — though, you’ll enjoy plenty of wine at both.
If you do visit both, ask about the puppies at Blackberry Farm! It is home to the most adorable Lagotto Truffle Dogs. Word on the street is there’s an 80,000-person waitlist to buy one.
I visited in the fall (October) and the colors were stunning. That said, summer feels like the perfect time to visit because they have a gorgeous pool that I didn’t really get to take advantage of.
A 4–5 day stay is perfect. Blackberry Mountain has a minimum stay requirement most times of the year. Many couples we met split their week between the Farm and the Mountain.
Here is all of that in pictures:

Divine!
Also perfect for a mother daughter get-away ;)
