WHERE TO EAT AND DRINK
COFFEE
All of these are pinned on my map here.
⭐ Abraço - My favorite coffee shop in all of New York. A good place to hang out on a Saturday morning.
BREAKFAST
⭐ Smør/ Smør Bakery - I don’t think enough people know about Smør. It’s become my go-to weekend breakfast spot in the East Village. There’s a sit-down restaurant and a cafe next door. I usually go to the cafe, order at the counter, and grab a seat outside.
C&B - Breakfast sandwich shop with personality. There’s long lines on the weekends, but they move fast and it’s worth it.
Win Son Bakery - Famed Taiwanese-American breakfast spot from Brooklyn.
Toms Juice - One of my favorite establishments in New York. Air Mail did a great piece on Tom Wright, who started Tom’s Juice by hand-delivering juices on his bike, rain or shine.
Apollo Bagels - The open-faced bagel taking over NYC.
MUD SPOT aka MUD - a neighborhood classic.

LUNCH
⭐ Spice Brothers - Shawarma plates, pita wraps, and good sauces.
Cafe Mogador - If you love Middle Eastern cuisine, this is one of those places you never stop going to.
Brodo - Bone broth in a cup on a cold Wednesday in February.
DINNER
DATE NIGHT
⭐ Penny - One of my favorite restaurants in New York to go time and time again. A guaranteed good vibe and meal. The one long counter is ideal for a date or catching up one-on-one.
Claud - Tiny restaurant with French-ish food.
Sushi Kai - High-quality omakase without the scene.

FOR THE SOUL
CATCHING UP WITH FRIENDS
⭐ Cafe Mogador - If you love Middle Eastern cuisine, this is one of those places you never stop going to.
Smithereens - Really cute space and good drinks for a lowkey date night. The buckwheat pancake is my favorite here. There’s a community feel here that’s extended with their fun substack zine.
Rosella - Sushi spot with an inventive edge.
MáLà Project - A spicy, casual meal with a group of four.
Hearth - Not a restaurant you would travel for, but a great East Village add. I’d go mid-week with parents or friends who care about good food but not the scene.

DRINKS & LATE-NIGHT
Ella Funt - Great for a second date or spontaneous nightcap.
Sauced - Natural wine bar with a fun energy.
Schmuck - A cocktail bar with personality.
Monsieur - Baz Luhrmann’s theatrical new East Village Bar. Madonna wants you to go there. It feels like a movie set in a way that’s more cool than Disney.
