One constant of Miscellaneous Good: I only share recommendations I can personally vouch for.
It’s the same reason I’m hesitant to use travel agents — maybe I have trust issues or maybe it really is that hard to find one who perfectly understands your preferences. When I’m planning my own travel, I start by asking a few trusted people for 2-3 recommendations in their area of expertise – my friend who works in fine art for all the galleries to visit, my friend who grew up in the neighborhood for the top 3 local coffee shops.
I’m excited to bring that concept to Miscellaneous Good. Where I don’t have the recommendations, I want to introduce you to people in my community who I trust with them.
For this guide, I tapped into The Tribeca Stylist, who knows a thing or two about where to shop in Tribeca. She’s put together a guide to the best stores in the neighborhood so the next time you’re craving a Saturday of shopping and strolling, you’ll have the perfect route.
Table of Contents:
CLOTHING
INDEPENDENT DESIGNERS
Nili Lotan - The go-to for any wardrobe essentials. The Tribeca location has the most wonderful stylists. Be sure ask for Melanie!
Aztech Mountain - Not enough people know about Aztech! It’s a performance sportswear brand rooted in skiing. They’re where I go if I’m looking for functional coats or colorful base layers.
Issey Miyake - One of the biggest stores on Hudson. Not only is he iconic for his artistic pleating, but Issey has the best fragrances. L’eau D’Issey is an unbeatable perfume.
Jenni Kayne - We all know and love Jenni, and her Tribeca store is no exception.
James Perse - James Perse will always have my favorite t-shirts (TTS) and their menswear makes for the easiest gift for a boyfriend.
HIGH-END DESIGNER & CURATED MULTI-BRAND
Bode Women’s Shop - Designed in collaboration with Green River Project, Bode is the ultimate destination for one-of-a-kind luxury pieces.
La Garçonne - One of the most aesthetically calming luxury stores in New York. You’ll get a good sense of the vibe here. They carry the largest selection of The Row outside the brand’s own stores.
180 The Store - First on my list if I’m looking to discover new designers. They carry pieces you won’t find anywhere else, with a heavy emphasis on Japanese designers.
Patron of the New - Originally just designer menswear, they’ve recently added women’s as well. It’s a go-to store for Travis Scott, Offset, and more with a niche selection of brands including - PALY, Enfants Riches Deprimes, and Chrome Hearts.
KIDS
Playing Mantis: Toy store or not this is one of the coolest stores to pop into. Yes, it’s a toy store but everything is made out of wood! A message from the owner:
“I believe I make a difference to a few, not just to artists but to children who would marvel about the natural toys a bit longer before picking up another plastic toy or video game.”
FURNITURE

Quarters: A new concept store everyone's buzzing about. It feels like stepping into the most perfectly designed Tribeca loft—except everything is for sale. They’ve also got a cozy wine bar and are available for private events.
StudioTwentySeven: Easily one of the most visually stunning furniture showrooms. The founders have an incredible eye for curating limited edition and one-of-a-kind pieces.
TRNK: A fun furniture store if you like discovering emerging high-end brands.
Form Atelier: The store is bright, open, and filled with some of the coolest custom-made lighting pieces.
Laura Gonzalez: She has the best mix of eclectic pieces. It’ll be nearly impossible to find something you won’t like, her work is hit after hit.

HOMEWARE
Korin: I did endless research for our knife set at home, and every path led me to Korin. Their Tribeca store is filled with stunning Japanese knives. Their experts will guide you to the perfect one for your needs!
Stella: The perfect spot if you need to pick up nice hand soap, candles, or a few extra towels for guests. They also always have a cute selection of cards.
Officine Gullo: If you didn’t have a dream stove, now you do. Officine Gullo is an Italian luxury brand known for their high-end, bespoke kitchen appliances. Someday!
Abhaya: A tiny gem on Hudson that most people walk past. It’s filled with some of the most beautiful Asian antiques.
BOOKS
The Mysterious Bookshop: Sadly the iconic Barnes & Noble location closed last year but if you’re anyone like me who loves a good thriller read, then this is the store for you. Fun fact the shop is also the oldest mystery specialist bookstore in America.
Joanne Hendricks Cookbooks: Technically it's in Hudson Square, but this woman has the most adorable cookbook store on Greenwich. It's just past Canal St.
JEWELRY
Foundrae: A high-end jewelry store tucked away on Lispenard, where anyone would be lucky to walk out with a piece! It’s the perfect spot for personalizing.
