It feels like Ibiza gets flattened. To this idea of DJ sets, raves, afternoon foam parties, Vegas. In truth, there’s a secret, beautiful Ibiza. It’s filled with culture, character, art, and charm. It’s laid-back, chic, and the ultimate cool-person destination of the Mediterranean. Let me tell you about it.
The vibe? The crowd is global and carries a certain aura. Bohemian-chic, if you please. Stylish, multilingual, relaxing days, wild nights, long hikes, if that’s more your speed. You can do a full week or rent a place for a month. It feels neighborhood-y in that way. If you only have a long weekend, that’s just enough too.
Who’s it for? The wellness crowds, the party crowds, couples who like a scene, friends who enjoy long lunches, bachelors, bachelorettes - honestly, anyone can find their scene here.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
There are a few great ways to do this trip. You can spend a long weekend here and get a real taste of the island, or, if you have a full week, pair Ibiza with Mallorca for a perfectly balanced trip. Mallorca → Ibiza is a 45-minute flight or a 4-hour ferry. I say fly. But more on that in my Mallorca guide.
The island is small. No matter where you stay, you can get just about anywhere within 45 minutes by car. That said, where you stay will probably shape the kind of trip you’re having (more on that in my map below). Before you book, look at the map to get a sense of the different areas and pick your base accordingly.
Getting around: cabs can be SO hard to get at times, and you will absolutely be stranded without one. You can usually call a yellow cab from any hotel, but the move is to get a cab driver's number the first chance you get so you have someone on text for the rest of the trip.
I rely on IbiRide (+34 642 45 48 68 via WhatsApp) for last-minute rides and airport transfers. All Mercedes V-Class.
The price adds up (a ride from one end of the island to the other runs around €150)
It’s Spain… dinners start late! Make your reservations at 10 or 11 unless you want the place to yourself.
A mental map
The south, around Playa d’en Bossa, is the Vegas-esque party strip. It’s where you’ll find DC-10, Ushuaïa, and the like. The taxis are impossible, but finding drugs is not.
The west side (near Cala Comte and San Antonio) has some of the best beaches, beach clubs, and sunsets. Close enough to the party scene and Old Town to be convenient, but not quite in the thick of it.
The north and northeast is a different island entirely. There’s an emphasis on wellness in a boho way that feels true to the island’s origins, plus beautiful hikes and some of the best food on Ibiza.
On the calendar
CAN Art Fair (Contemporary Art Now) happens on the island every year, usually the last week of June. It’s a contemporary art fair that pulls in a cool art crowd and a lot of good programming. This year it ran June 25–28.

WHERE TO STAY
There are many ways to do Ibiza, from a proper wellness retreat to a villa with all your friends. A few of my favorites:
Six Senses Ibiza
One of my favorite hotels, anywhere. The Six Senses is on the quiet northern tip of the island, and the crowd is mostly good-looking couples in their early 30s, with a few adorable babies here and there. The hotel is luxurious in just the right way that makes you feel like you could live there for six months. A wellness hotel, but not a force-wellness-down-your-throat hotel, even if the minute you check in the concierge delivers a 25-page pamphlet of treatments from their RoseBar longevity clinic.
The vibe is such that you can wake up and choose between a yoga class, a boxing class, or a guided hike, or hit the Technogym-sponsored gym to get your heart rate up and follow it with a green juice and perfectly yellow fried eggs for breakfast. The aesthetic is very boho, with little color accents on the floors and around the space.
Among the highlights: the food at Beach Caves, the goddess of a woman who leads guided sunset rituals, the boutique (Agora) that’s a destination in its own right, and the view. Let me put more emphasis here - the view is unbelievable!!!! A never-ending sweep of sparkling bright blue that you’re sure to remember on a dark winter day.
A few things to note before your stay:
The beach is rocky; you’re not directly on a sandy beach (though the beach clubs are half the fun in Ibiza anyway), so take it as an invitation to really soak in the zero-edge pool.
It’s a 45-minute to 1-hour drive to the south and west of the island, where a lot of the “things to do in Ibiza” are. You can choose to stay put and enjoy the highlights up north (I promise La Paloma and Nudo will not disappoint), or you can make the drive. I didn’t mind it a few times during our trip. Just try to plan your days so you’re not driving an hour for a beach club and then another hour for dinner.
OKU Ibiza
OKU is known to be a more social, design-forward counterpart to the Six Senses. It’s on the west side of the island, close enough to everything while still being an escape. Stay here if you want a vibe that’s not quite isolated from the party scene.
A few more
For smaller boutique stays, I’ve heard Petunia Ibiza (a Beaumier hotel above Cala Vadella), Can Domo (a working farm turned hotel), and Casa Maca (rural and countryside, just above Ibiza Town) are all lovely. Soho House recently opened Soho Farmhouse in Ibiza, which looks beautiful from the photos. It’s a bit more rural and inland, but a 20-minute drive to the action. And if you’re coming with a group, book a villa or an Airbnb.
WHERE TO EAT
Dinner
⭐ ⭐ La Paloma, Sant Llorenç - A long-running, lantern-lit garden restaurant in the north. People don’t stop coming - the vibe is one of my favorites on the island. It can be a slow, romantic dinner for two or a long table in a corner before a night out. It feels very homey.
⭐ Casa Maca - An amazing outdoor vibe and a perfect group dinner before a night out. It’s a countryside setting, with a wonderful open-flame fire at the entrance and views of the old city of Dalt Vila. Food-wise, I thought it was just average and very expensive. But you come for the setting and the energy.
The Beach Caves at Six Senses Ibiza - The food here is exceptional, and a good excuse to see the hotel if you’re not staying there.
Tomatoes and sake at Urusai Urusai at El Silencio - El Silencio’s main restaurant (from chef Mauro Colagreco of Mirazur) has since gone lunch-only, but the same group opened Urusai right next door for the evening. It’s a Tokyo-style izakaya, really creative cuisine that’s quite different from anything else on the island, and the hospitality is exceptional. Come around 8, grab a drink, and borrow one of their pillows to grab a spot on the beach to watch the sunset. Then head inside for dinner overlooking the water. The place is tiny so make reservations far in advance.
Sa Punta, Talamanca - An easy steak dinner with lively energy and a view across the water to Ibiza Town. Good location to go out and pretty solid/no-fuss. Nothing to write home about but does the job.
Jaïs - The hotspot from Paris opened an Ibiza outpost this summer (2026). I haven’t been, but it’s gotten some buzz. I did drive past it and saw the location is off the side of the highway. Not passing judgment, but would love to hear the review from someone who’s actually dined here.
DURING THE DAY
Beach Clubs
Make a reservation well in advance at these, then enjoy the beach attached for the day. My three favorites are starred.
⭐⭐ Jondal - The see-and-be-seen beach club of the moment. It’s where the fashion crowd spends their summer. It’s also the hardest reservation on the island. Text their phone number on WhatsApp well in advance to make a reservation. But really, use your connects, if you have them. Otherwise, book through Dorsia (for a $300/pp minimum spend). Their boutique is one of the best shops on the island too.
⭐⭐ Es Torrent - Super laid-back, very European, and perfect for big groups. Every table is a fifteen-person party of mixed ages from all over. You either get the fish or the paella here. They’ll call you in advance to get your main dish order (not my favorite thing). And they take their dessert very seriously.
⭐⭐ Nudo - All about the food. Probably the best on the island. Come for lunch and stay to relax at the beach out front for the day. Less “beach club” and more “restaurant on the beach.” The vibe is family-friendly and completely away from the party scene.
El Chiringuito Es Cavallet - Sceney and St. Tropez-esque, on Es Cavallet beach. Come early to reserve chairs on the sand, then settle for a late lunch.

Cala Bassa Beach Club (CBbC) is a big, buzzy beach club on one of the prettiest west-coast beaches. Experimental Beach is a fun spot for a group, with a great sunset and reliably good crowd.

If you just want to bring a towel and lie somewhere beautiful for the day:
Cala Carbó - on the west of the island
Cala Olivera - closer to the “party” side
Punta Galera - a flat, rocky beach that’s perfect for sunbathing (bring water shoes).
Book a boat to Formentera
You cannot miss this. Book a boat to Formentera for lunch at either Juan y Andrea or Es Molí de Sal. You’ll want to book a full-day boat so the driver waits while you dine. We did 10 AM to 6 PM. One thing that matters: tell the driver exactly where you want to go. I’d steer toward the quieter areas around Formentera, because otherwise they’ll take you to the touristy, crowded spots packed with big party boats. It starts to feel a little like spring break in Cabo. We booked ours on GetMyBoat.
Shopping
Walking around the old town (Dalt Vila) is super cute and worth an afternoon. The best shops on the island are the boutique at Jondal, the Six Senses shop, Agora, and Annie’s Ibiza - extravagant vintage womenswear. Vicente Ganesha coverups have also become sort of a thing in recent years.
NIGHTLIFE & SUNSET
Sunset
My favorite sunset on the island is on the beach in front of El Silencio. It’s one of the more pure, uncrowded places to watch the sun go down. The Six Senses also has a beautiful sunset (come early before dinner at The Beach Caves). And it’s worth taking a boat out later in the day to watch the sunset over Es Vedrá.

Hï Ibiza - famous for the bathroom DJ set. Black Coffee has been running his residency here the past few summers. If you’re into that, it’s always a good time.
DC-10 - Try to be in Ibiza on a Monday. Circoloco, every Monday, at DC-10 is the best party on the island.
WHAT TO SKIP
Sunset Ashram, Cala Conta - I’ve heard about this place over the years, but it gets super touristy and crowded. I’d rather watch the sunset at the beach in front of El Silencio right nearby.
